FAQ
Candle-Related Questions
Q: Why is the surface of my candle uneven?
A: The inherent characteristics of additive-free wax, combined with various premium fragrance oils, can result in uneven or textured surfaces. This is a common and natural occurrence since we do not use synthetic stabilizers, and it does not affect the candle’s performance or quality.
Q: Why does the surface of my candle have a white frost-like appearance?
A: This is called frosting, which is a natural crystallization process that occurs in natural wax blends. It is a signature characteristic of pure, additive-free candles and does not impact their quality or performance.
Q: There are "wet spots" or marks on the side of my candle container. What are they?
A: Wet spots occur naturally when temperature changes cause the wax to cool and slightly pull away from the glass container. This is a standard characteristic of natural waxes and does not affect the candle’s functionality.
Q: My candle has small holes near the wick. Is this a defect?
A: These are called sinkholes, which can occur naturally during the cooling and setting process of pure waxes. They are not manufacturing defects and do not impact the burning performance of the candle.
Q: Why is my candle tunneling (burning only in the center)?
A: Tunneling happens if the first burn was too short, preventing the wax from melting completely to the edges. To set a proper wax memory and avoid tunneling, always ensure the melt pool reaches the container's edge during the first use.
Q: My candle produces too much smoke or the flame grows large.
A: This usually occurs if the wick is too long. Extinguish the flame, allow it to cool, trim the wick to the recommended length (1/4 inch for standard wicks, 1/8 inch for wood wicks), and relight.
Q: My wick keeps going out.
A: Ensure the wick is trimmed properly and cleared of burnt debris before lighting. If the wick has become too short to stay lit, carefully remove a small amount of liquid wax around the wick after lighting to expose more of the wick.
Reed Diffuser-Related Questions
Q: The scent from my reed diffuser seems faint. What should I do?
A: Gently flip the fiber reeds to refresh the scent, or add 1–2 additional reeds to increase the fragrance strength.
Q: The reeds look clogged or dusty. Do I need to replace them?
A: Yes. Reeds can become completely saturated or collect dust over time, which reduces diffusion efficiency. Replacing them periodically with new fiber reeds will help restore optimal performance.
Q: Why is there clear liquid remaining in the bottle even though the scent has faded?A: Studio Jaiklu’s diffusers are hand-poured using a specialized DPG-Free base without artificial chemical evaporators. Because we avoid synthetic blending agents, the evaporation process depends naturally on the unique characteristics of each premium fragrance oil, as well as environmental factors like airflow and temperature.
Depending on these variables, some diffusers may dry up completely, while others may leave behind a clear, unscented liquid at the bottom after the fragrance has fully diffused. Neither case is a product defect. In both instances, it simply confirms that the fragrance portion has completed its cycle, and it is time for a fresh replacement.
Q: How long does a reed diffuser last?
A: The duration depends heavily on room size, airflow, temperature, humidity, and the number of reeds used. Using more reeds increases scent intensity but reduces the overall lifespan of the product.
Q: Can diffuser oil damage furniture?
A: Yes. Fragrance oils may stain or damage wood, painted surfaces, fabrics, or plastics. Always place your diffuser on a stable coaster or protective tray, and clean any accidental spills immediately with a damp cloth or soap and water.
Q: Is it normal for the scent to vary throughout the day?
A: Yes. Changes in room temperature, humidity, and natural air circulation throughout the day can affect how the scent intensifies and moves through the space.
Q: Can I reuse reeds after they are fully saturated?
A: No. Fully saturated reeds lose their structural ability to draw up and diffuse oil effectively. They should be discarded and replaced with fresh reeds.
Q: How many reeds should I use?
A: We recommend starting with 3–4 reeds. You can use more reeds for larger spaces or a stronger scent, and fewer reeds for smaller rooms or a more subtle aroma.
